Cant install programs due to antivirus

I am currently using avast antivirus and i can download programs off the internet such as adobe flash and java also windows update will stay at 0% until i disable avast, so what im asking is how can i change this because i don't want to have to keep tuning my antivirus off to download and update programs thanks!

I'd go through your AVAST! settings to see if there are any exemption rules to set.

I personally havent used a separate anti-virus program since installing w10

Okay i will have a look through its setting's. Is there anything in particular i should be looking for?
