need to know when this error happens and what the actual error is. for the life of me i cant understand why you want to replace a perfectly good os with one that will have no support in 6 months or so.but if this is what you want please post back with the info requested.

What is the error? Without that we can only guess and my best guess would be to set the hard drive configuration to Pata mode for the install then set it back to Sata once XP installs since it isn't supported natively. You would do that be going into the BIOS and looking in the settings.

the blue screen error is
" a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
etc etc
etc etc
at the end
** stop : 0x0000007B (0xffffadf61a323c0,etc etc etc etc etc )

It will almost certainly be that the XP install does not recognise the SATA HDD set up. You need to manually install the drivers by pressing F6 at set up start up and using a slip streamed Service Pack 3 XP installation. Just so you know replacing Win 7 with XP will result in a significant performance hit and you are really wasting your time. IMHO.
