Can't save apps to external memory

I have a gemini q9909 9.7 tablet and I've just purchased a 16gb sd card for it so I can have more apps on it. but it's still trying to save to the internal memory despite that being full I've looked everywhere for a solution to this and I can't find one please help me

Are using the App2SD app? The OS will not load it to sd card on its own.
Have you tried cleaning out your internal memory at all, going to downloads folder and removing what you dont need, moving pictures/music to sd card, removing unneeded programs?

I don't have anything on it apart from apps, ive cleaned all the cache I downloaded the apps2sd app but it just kept freezing. I just want a way to use my sd card to save onto the only way I seem to be able to find is to root my tablet but I can't find the instructions to follow for my device and I don't want it to end up broken :-(
