Solved! Can't select VLC media player as default meidia player

I've downloaded VLC media player to my Progran files (x86) on my SSD but when I try to go to "default app settings" and click on "music player" or "video player" it only shows the standard windows products what should I do?

Did you actually install it or just download the installer from the website to the Program Files folder? Your wording isn't clear.

1) Right-click on a supported media file that you want to play
2) Choose "Open with . . "
3) Choose VLC media player or browse for it's executable.
4) Now, before clicking 'OK', be sure to tick "Always use this program to open this file type"


Repeat steps 1-4 for other media file types that you want VLC media player to be the default.
