2 devices. want to cast Netflix show to tv from one and watch another Netflix show on the other device. possible? how?

we are casting a show to the tv and when the little one took her ipad to watch her Netflix show it took over the show we were watching on the tv from our device.

What's the source device of the cast? A single device cannot send out two netflix streams. Your tablet should just be able to use a netflix app installed on the tablet itself. Then your TV, if not a smart tv, needs some other device to cast the stream to it, but it won't be from your tablet.

Your description is rather vague in regards to your device setup.
The basic Netflix plan only allows for one stream at a time. Standard allows for two and Premium four. Sounds like you need to upgrade your plan. The video resolution varies with each plan too.

You can't send Netflix from a TV to another display. Each display will need to access Netflix separately. You can connect or stream from a phone to one TV if the Netflix app isn't available otherwise.
