cd paint error message

I have a manual on a disc. Everytime I place the cd into the cd drive I get this message G:\Index Htm Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file or its format is not currently supported. This cd used to run but not now. Can anyone help. I am using a windows 8.1 OS.

Try cleaning the disc.

If this is the first time you've tried the CD on Windows 8 it may not be compatible with Windows 8, though if it's only a manual that's unlikely.

i have cleaned the disc and no help. This disc used to run in my cd drive until just recently.
