I have a bunch of burned cds with various songs (from 5 or 6 years ago) back then they always played fine, now as I am ripping the songs from the cd to my computer, some sort of static noise comes out of the songs. Should I get a cd cleaning tool for the cd's or is it a total loss? Thanks

The static is probably from the initial quality of the music on the disc. If these are mp3's then the lower quality audio may have slight static just from the data itself, not from the actual surface of the disc. If they are above mp3 quality (wav for example), then its probably the disc itself and cleaning will help.

Thanks I believe it the CD, but I wasn't sure if cleaning will do, all these cds haven't been played in years, and well they played perfectly fine back in their days!

Any recommendations in cd cleaning??

Here is an online instruction guide using metal polish:

If you don't want to use that I'd go to bestbuy or walmart, usually they have one of those cleaner kits for under $10.
