Cell Phones...I Just Don't Get It!!

I am all for modern technology!! If it can be done quicker and easier I
am for it. Email and the Internet and DVR cable recording are my
favorite technologies. But when it comes to talking on the phone all the
time anytime I just don't get it!! Why people have this fascination to
talk on the phone all the time is a mystery. I watch in wonder when i
see people walking thru grocery stores and walking down the street
talking loud about personal things so we have to hear the conversation.
I know I will get bashed for this next observation but I think it is
weird to see a man talking loud on the phone in public. In my family men
were never comfortable even dialing the phone. I always thought the
phone was invented for women. When the phone rang in my house when I was
a child my dad and my brothers cringed when the phone rang. Now when a
man's phone rings he seems excited. Especially when it rings silly
music. And in public places. But when Im home and the phone rings it is
a constant interruption. I don't like it when Im watching tv, reading or
sleeping or even eating dinner and the phone rings.
I remember when as a kid my dad would say "let's get out of the house
before the phone rings". Now people take the phone with them. Why I will
never understand.Let me end this by saying I have a cell phone and
hardly use it. Only for emergencies and they are rare. I hope every
body's responses will be harmless. Bob

What would the world be like if there were no cell phones, e-mail, internet,
and DVR???? Every where you go people talk on cell phones. If I could stand
out side in one place for 8 hours I would see thousands of people go by and
they would all have there phones out. I find it funny to.

The other thing that's silly is people falling all over themselves to buy
the feature bloat-laden new phones the carriers push. Hello, they want you
to use more minutes and upmarket your contract so they can increase revenue
(not that there's anything wrong with that-- that's why they're in business
after all).

But do we really need the Swiss Army knives with antennas they sell now? You
might as well wait for the new models that will have electric shavers, drink
mixers, flashlights and weather forecasting instruments built in.

Remember that the consumer market is aimed at thirteen year old girls - if

It's a multi-faceted thing. Women see certain
activities as important to demonstrating "who
they are" to those around them. Here in the
area where I am driving a Cadillac Escalade
with a cigarette in one hand and a cell-phone
glued to an ear and with everyone jumping
out of their way to save their lives, somewhat
qualifies. The gal I saw driving this morning
was all tied up in some conversation about her
new shade of lipstick or the cute guy at the
office and changed lanes cutting off all traffic.
How she changed lanes with no hands on the
wheel, no-one knows. But they were all braking
and swerving. No-one blew horns or complained
because everyone is accustomed to that. She was
apparently oblivious to all. Maybe a law will
get passed. Of course some girly boys are into
the gossiping over the cell also. I think that
cell phones should be equipped with automatic
disable devices when an automobile engine
is started. Flame--flame--flame...

Driving down the freeway, earlier today, I saw a guy with a sandwich and
cigarette in one hand, and cell phone in the other.

That woman is the type of person who will be brain dead in 10 years,
from the excessive RF radiation "microwaving" her two brain cells.
When I see these types of indivduals I smile knowing another oxygen
consumer is on their way out.

Unless you can get a law passed to limit the time length or the
subject matter of phone calls made in public I'm afraid you're just
going to have to suffer.

While you're at it see if they can make a law to prevent people from
passing gas or belching in public too. And while you're at it could
you please get a law passed to prevent people who don't bathe and use
under arm deodorant from using public transportation. And while
you're at it please get a law passed that people wearing iPods,
Walkmans and the like should turn down the volume so that people 100
feet away don't have to "share" their musical choices too.

Get back to us when you've done that OK?

Thanks everyone for responding. I also use it when needed and those
needs are rare. I also don't yack on the phone. Is life that important
that you have to converse with someone while driving a car? I cant turn
the wheel around the corner while trying to change channels on the
radio. I tried to open a Snickers bar while driving home one night and I
don't recommend it.
Ive seen people read while driving. Ive seen people eat salads while
drving. Ive seen people scratch off lottery tickets while driving. Now
talking on the phone while driving. I drive my car to get away from the
phone. Im going to a card next month when my contract expires. Maybe i
will call everybody who responded. Bob
