How can I get an older cell phone number back again

I lost a cell phone a few months ago and need to use the phone number from it to access Gmail. I had to create a new Gmail to use for work emails, but would like to see the older ones. Gmail makes it difficult to get into that old email without the 2-step verification (They ask for the exact date the older account was opened, and other details i don't recall.) The number was in my 2-step verification process for Gmail. The phone service, Net10, says the number is gone and can no longer be retrieved. Is there any other way I can get that number back?

no. when Net10 says it gone, it mean it gone to another user. Should have got a new phone with them or transfer it to another service provider.
