Coax question RG6 RG11

This discussion again, been too many years and i've forgotten it.

Setup is 922 receiver to the HighDef Decoder (iLink and Component
video out to 52" HD TV -- RCA DLP).

Problem is ... at the dish, during tune-up, signals are great, as
strong as i can get it on all the sats. In the house,
(175 foot run of RG6 ribbon cable), there's a noticeable drop,
(signals at dish run 99 quality -- in house 80 on most, dropping from
there -- a few signals still run high -- seems to vary a lot
transponder to transponder).

Would running an RG11 cable give me a noticeable improvement?
(if anyone's tried it). Of course, a crystal clear pic on the 32" crt,
but now, I can see the degradation of the pic as i go from sat to sat
on the big tv.
(some signals are clear, others very bad -- i almost think its the
quality of the movie/show -- but magnified on this tv)

thanks,
rik

Don't waste your time and money. Get a cheap; IF line amp and you will
have max signal on the old cable.

I can't comment about C-band, but I was having some
signal quality issues with Ku-band. I went to the
local Wal-Mart, and bought one of the DBS in-line
preamps. It didn't help much, but it did make previously
unwatchable signals watchable. It eliminated tiling
on digital stuff. It got me between 2 and 5 signal points
on most signals. Is it "proper" to use one of these?
Probably not, but if it works, it's hard to argue with
success. (My feedline is probably 75 feet long.)

Thanks for the advice! I'll try a line amp before
considering running another line for "fun".

The one thing i did right during setup was running
2" pvc electrical conduit underground once i had the hole
dug for the lines. (extremely cheap, i remember it was
less than $30).

As i pulled the wires thru, i ran another string for
future use, so running new wire isn't the worst
nightmare, i just don't want to spend my few dollars
left after taxes on new coax if its likely to do very little.

If it helped with a 75 foot run, you have a coax problem.
