College Notebook: Razer Blade 14" vs MSI GS 70

I will be starting college this fall and living in the dorms. I am ready for a new laptop because my macbook pro 13" is way too slow and I want something with way beefier specs. I currently own a custom desktop but for now I don't plan on bringing it with me. So I've been looking closely at both laptops and was wondering which you the community would be best for me.

Both laptops have similar specs but the MSI is cheaper. I've been leaning towards the GS 70 since its cheaper and has a bigger screen but most people say 17" is too big of a screen but they usually say that because 17" is heavy but the MSI is not heavy. In the end I'll probably pick whichever laptop has a better battery life but I was just curious what everyone's opinion is on the two.

if you think its too big then get the MSI GS 60 ghost - its basically a 15.6" version

Man between those two I'd go with the MSI Ghost without even thinking about it.
