Compaq v3745AU power problems

dear friend pls help me with this. my laptop 2yrs old without any problem compaq v3745au model 2.2 GHz. now all of a sudden led lights switch on for about a sec and then suddenly turn off. after repeated failed attemts it starts then runs wonderfully. what is this starting problem? is this a major problem with motherbord? last night it took me almost 20 attempts to start it

operating system: win 7
Nvia graphich card with AMD turion X64 processor 320 GB hard disk and 2 GB ram

By chance, is this happening when the laptop has been running for awhile or while it is "cold?"

while its cold. night when i shut down d morning when i turn on its a big big problem. 20 attempts it wont start. Like old bajaj scooter kick start. while m working absolutely no problem whatsoever. Pls help
