computer locks completely

Hello, My Dell XPs 8300 has the AMD HD5770 video card started locking up the computer completely!!! Nothing will unlock it except for unplugging it. I have had it for 3 years and Dell won't support the bios for it. Tried several high end games and they all seem to do the same thing, just freeze where it is. I have to shut it down. The computer works great otherwise but if I play Arma, Crisis or my driving games, it takes about 2 minutes to load and then boom.... Can you advise anything prior to purchasing a new computer. Maybe a new video card of the same because the box won't hold a bigger one. I really need help. Thank you, John

For the GPU upgrade, you can have a Radeon HD 7750 or or 7770, there is just a bit of difference in the price, but I'll go for the 7770. I see you are using an Intel Core i7. Have you upgraded your Intel Chipset driver? Make sure you update that one.

What motherboard BIOS version you have, the latest is A06.
