Connecting Smart TV & Blu-Ray to my older Sony Surround sound DVD player

So I have an older Sony Surround DVD player I want to hook up to my smart TV and New Blu-Ray player. Just need it for the sound. Problem is it does not have a digital audio jack just 1 HDMI, components and bunch of red white. Anything will help Thanks.

It may be an output only device and you may have to break down and buy a real surround system. Without a model #, impossible to know what it does have though.

But wouldnt the HDMI cable from the Old Sony connected straight to the TV give me sound at least when watching standard TV channels?

Not if the HDMI is one way, and meant to connect video from the DVD player TO the TV. The only way audio gets passed back is if both devices such ARC, audio return channel, but if hte DVD player is that old, probably not.
