constant email check??

is there a setting somewhere either in ActiveSync or in my Axin
that would make my Axim constantly try to get online?
When I turn off WiFi, every 5mins I get a popup saying "cannot find
modem or network card" Then I have the option to go to Settings or
Dismiss. It doesn't matter which I choose, the popup keeps coming back

In yout mail program (InBox) you may have set to check for new mail every 5
minutes - this is why PDA wants to connect to network.

Or, you may have set scheduled sync at the activesync options at the PPC.

when you say in my mail program I may have it set to check every 5 mins.
Do you mean my pc? Do my regular pc settings affect the pocketpc?
I use Mailwasher and do have that set to check every 2mins. I'll turn that
off and see.
In ActiveSync/Options/Schedule I had it set to sync Continuously.
Yesterday I set to manually but it didn't matter, the popup message kept
happening anyway.

both settings are on the PPC - not the PC,
in inbox on the pocketpc, if you have any pop3 accounts set up, click on
accounts | accounts | "account name" | next | next | next | options| and
make sure that "connect and check for messages every XX minutes is
UNCHECKED. repeat for any other accounts you have set up.
in activsync on the PPC hit Tools | options | clear the box that says " use
mobile schedule to sync with this PC"

No, that is the settings in the PocketPC.

And also I was talking about Activesync in the PPC, not in the desktop.

what fantastic directions thank you so much!
That sounded so logical. In ActiveSync though I didn't find the option
"use mobile schedule to sync with this PC"
When I go to Tools/Options under the Sync Options tab it says,
"Syncronize mobile device clock upon connecting" and that is checked.
The one below is grayed out.
