Sirius announced again today that they will offer mobile DTV thus
joining Qualcomm and Crown Castle in offering same.

I have never understood the mobile video players being offered where you
have to pre-load content or cart DVDs along. There seems to be a new one
introduced every day. Mobile DTV is another thing most of us will watch
mobile DTV within a few years.

Perhaps, because of this <http://www.hasbro.com/videonow/>
toy, the next generation will be more interested in mobile
video.

I have never understood the appeal of watching video material on screens
the size of a postcard.

I can tell you somebody who definitely won't.

I'd have to agree, any instance where I *might* have use for such a product
(on a plane, train, etc) I'd listen to audio

Agreed, the baud would be better spent on high quality digital audio.

After reading the specs (from Q&A)

Q: What are the audio and video capabilities of the VIDEONOW COLOR Personal
Video Player?

A: The VIDEONOW COLOR Personal Video Player features a 1.85 X 1.45 inch
backlit LCD screen capable of 216 X 160 pixels. The VIDEONOW COLOR player
also features a self-contained 36 mm speaker that delivers crystal clear
sound along with an audio jack for headphone or speaker use. (Headphones and
speaker not included)

Q: Are the VIDEONOW COLOR Personal Video Player or the Personal Video Discs
compatible with any other media player?

A: The Personal Video Discs are a proprietary format and will not play on
any other media player.

Q: Can you use regular DVD's or CD's in the VIDEONOW COLOR player?

A: VIDEONOW COLOR will only work with VIDEONOW PVD's, black and white or
COLOR. Regular DVD's or CD's will not work in the unit.

I'd stay away from this proprietary mess. Especially since *real* portable
DVD players aren't that much more money and are fully compatible with the
DVD standard.
