tl;dr: CPU fan is not detected by motherboard but it's working, how to fix this?
So I recently made my first pc build and I'm having a slight issue, when i plug the CPU fan (intel stock cooler) connector to the correct connector on the motherboard (an Asus H81M-E) the cooler is not detected on the BIOS but it works, i've been running it there for a little while now (initially always checking CPU temperature to make sure it was fine) and it does the job of keep the CPU cool but always running at high speed like it seems to be doing is far from ideal.
I tried connecting the CPU cooler to the connection for the chassis fan to make sure the problem was the cooler's, there the motherboard detects it fine (although detecting it as a chassis fan).
So what could be causing this issue? Any easy fix?
