The cracks are about an inch long on the outer cover of the laptop (opposite side of the screen).

What is the best way to stop the cracks from propagating (or the best course of action, if not this)? I don't have enough confidence in my technical abilities to risk trying to repair it myself.

Solution
Generally, you'd drill a hole at each end of the crack. And possibly glue in the crack.

Of course, in a laptop, you'd want to remove all the internal stuff. There isn't a lot of clearance and extra space for when the drill bit goes through the plastic.
