Solution
The cpu is fine but expresscard will always be a bottleneck for egpus and there is no way around that. It's still a big step up over the intel igpu, just make sure you are finding a good deal on the adapter.

Cool. I knew expresscard bottlenecked pcie, but I wanted to make sure the cpu wouldn't bottleneck it. I've been using an Asus g750jh for two years, and am about to sell it. I was going to buy a smaller "gaming" laptop when I realized that I could upgrade the ram and use an egpu on my dell and that would save me a lot of money, potentially over getting a desktop too.
