So I just bought up Dell Inspiron 15r 5537 with core i7 4500u,8gb ram, radeon hd 8850m 2gb gddr5. I downloaded Skyrim and it was so laggy as it was running on integrated graphics. I think I need to install AMD drivers. But I don't know which drivers to install. Should I download the drivers from AMD website or Dell website? Both sites have different drivers for 8850m. AMD wesbite has catlyst 13.11 beta and dell has something different.

AMD website- http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%208%20-%2064

Dell - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/indhs1/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-15r-5537?driverId=PWTRP&osCode=W864&fileId=3287401962&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI

Please help me installing the right drivers.

Solution
I have figured out my problem. It was actually with the drivers. I installed my graphics drivers from Dell website and the game was still laggy. After that I downloaded the latest beta drivers from AMD website and installed with Express option. Now Skyrim runs buttery smooth on Ultra settings.
If anyone has the same problem try following my instructions.

that because your drivers is now installed as another one go to device manger you well find it 'R9' instead of "8850m" :)

funcionando 100%

utilizar os drives do site da DELL

1º atualizar bios A8

Hello guys I have finding solution to the sleep/hibernate problem in my laptop, Dell inspiron 15R 5537, AMD radeon 8850 m and Finally I got it working all smooth! With all my games working at the highest setting , no lag no delay all set and fine.

All you need to do is :
1. Downloaded these 2 video drivers on the Dell site for the Inspiron 5537 from here : http://www.dell.com/support/home/in/en/indhs1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=CGR4G File Name:Video_Driver_CGR4G_WN_13.201.0.0_A01.EXE -----> this is for AMD

and also download the Intel drivers from here : http://www.dell.com/support/home/in/en/indhs1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=Y3FHH&fileId=3394571394&osCode=&productCode=&categoryId=VI File Name:Video_Driver_Y3FHH_WN_10.18.10.3308_A01.EXE

There is also a alternative version for Intel 4400 (Version 10.18.10.3316, A02) , but it does not work with this machine, I tried it but it didn't work , so don't waste time downloading this version instead download the one I specified before.

2. Download the DDU soft ware( Display Driver uninstaller)

3. Reboot Windows 8.1 in Safe Mode and run DDU which will remove your all Drivers, Intel as well as AMD. Now restart the pc in normal mode.

4. In normal Windows mode - Install the Intel 4400 HD driver from Dell's support site ( link above in point 1). My version is 10.18.10.3308. Restart windows

5. In normal Windows mode, installed the AMD 8850 driver Version 13.201.0.0, A01, from the Dell support site ( link above in point 1). restarted Windows

8. On restart to normal Windows mode, I now have only two drivers in Device Manger - Intel HD Graphics Family and AMD Radeon HD8850M

I just checked and it goes into sleep mode (e.g. via shutting down the lid or singly hit of the hardware start button), and resumes properly as expected using a single click of the hardware start button..

I also checked that after 5 minutes in my case, when the laptop goes into sleep mode by itself after inactivity., it resumes with a single click of the hardware start button.
The Sleep hibernate and FPS of games works perfect now!

Hope this works for u guys!

Best/most stable/highest performance solution by me for Dell Inspiron 3537/5537 on Windows 8.1:

Uninstall current Intel and AMD drivers in Control Panel, then clean the drivers with DDU in safe mode.
http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/

After that install these up-to-date drivers:

Intel VGA driver: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=VX599&fileId=3424894916&osCode=WB64A&productCode=inspiron-15-5543-laptop&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI

Disabling Driver Signature before install this AMD driver modded by me (thanks for the base version for Mahmoud Elfar):
https://mega.co.nz/#!dM0mQYJR!8CeUKw49k6wvr-X6IaQ2i-qggj4RVUpDgcF8AcYvqMg

Many version tested with Samsung 840 EVO and the fastest Intel AHCI driver is v13.2.4.1000 (thanks for Fernando on Win-Raid forum for the driver collection):
https://mega.co.nz/#!dMkRWCjT!vZkgbC1ogRxm8fmX53Q23c6LhABE-tfdB3K3HucFhuo

Dell 1707 drivers also contains the latest 1705 drivers: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=G3YFY

Intel Chipset driver: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=8GCTD

Intel Management Engine driver: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=3TY1R

Realtek RTS5179 card reader driver: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=8TFTW

Use Realtek LAN driver from Realtek website: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

I had sleep/shutdown issues, now everything is stable and never had any problem and with Fast Boot, the boot is really instant (1-2 sec, cold boot).

I hope I could help.

Okay here's the thing. I bought this laptop in March of 2014 (mainly for gaming purposes). Worked like a charm.
Then "Watch Dogs" came along, and it lagged like hell. I updated the graphics drivers from AMDs site (which specifically said that they would give a better frame rate on the game) and they did. BUT I also got the issues:

  • screen does not wake after going to sleep
does not come back from hibernate
does not come back after closing and opening lid
windows fastboot doesnt work (same problem, screen goes off, doesnt come on, and the laptop doesnt shut down)

Anyways, I researched on this for months and this is what I finally know:

AMD is rolling out drivers to increase performance. However, those drivers aren't well tweaked to run on your machine, that is the Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 (many other laptops also have similar issues). These drivers just give better performance.

Dell, however, is modifying those drivers to run on your machine smoothly, at the cost of performance.

You can download the AMD drivers from AMDs site, and the Dell drivers come in the Windows Update menu itself.

So, the choice I guess is yours: either take Dell drivers and avoid these issues, or take AMD drivers for better performance.

I personally chose AMD, and disabled Sleep mode, Hibernate mode, and now I don't close the lid of the laptop, or leave it on for a long while (to prevent automatic timeout)

HOWEVER, if I disable the AMD graphics card in device manager, of course I can;t do heavy graphics work, BUT the sleep and hibernate modes and all start working perfectly again, so this is something I do from time to time. Say, if I have to go out somewhere for a short while and I don't want to close my laptop, then I just disable the AMD graphics card and then put it to sleep or close the lid. Then when I come back, I just open the lid, enable the GPU and start working again.

For now, this is the only solution I know of. If anybody has a better solution, it'd be great if you could share it here.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks
