My name is Shrikanth and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Your desktop has two ports one is the VGA and the one is an HDMI. What cable are you using to connect from the monitor? If its a cable problem have you tried swapping the cables? Is your system posting?

Desktop? The D620 is a laptop pc not a desktop pc. And the original poster said nothing about trying to connect an external monitor to it. The built-in display seems to be the issue. Or am I missing something?
