My son has zero use of his right hand, he has cerebral palsy and hemiparethis. He's not a professional photographer or anything like that, but loves to take pictures so I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive way to let him do so easily. I've looked for left-handed cameras for years, to no avail, save one for $1500. yeah, no. I'm now looking for a combo... easy to use light weight camera, maybe a point a shoot, and a pistol grip for zoom, focus and shutter. Also looking for a basic remote to do the same when it's on a tripod. What features does the camera itself need to have to be able to accommodate both of these accessories? Product suggestions for all three would be most appreciated. Thank you so much! :)

Do you think a should mount like this one http://www.amazon.com/Shoulder-Stabilizer-Camcorder-ePhotoInc-LH07/dp/B005T5GEQ0/ref=sr_1_4/190-3451437-4858318?ie=UTF8&qid=1409711537&sr=8-4&keywords=shoulder+mount+for+dslr) would be helpful? I know it adds some bulk but the weight of the camera would supported by the mount. There are other mounts available from sites like Amazon and B&H Photo.

we've tried upside down, it's too difficult for him to hold AND manipulate functions. He plans to use it in a school class as well so cell phone is out, as is camcorder.

That mount should definitely help your son. I'm sorry to hear that he has lost all use of his right hand.
