Digital Optical Cable to USB?

Hi,
I have a Yamaha YAS 107 soundbar that I want to connect to my Samsung TV (model: UA40EH5000). I want the best sound output as I want to use it with the satellite box as well as firestick. Currently I have a coaxial connect with satellite box and bluetooth connect for firestick. I want the best sound quality

Looking at the spec for the TV, there's no "out" other than headphone/3.5mm AUX.

The USB port on the TV isn't likely to be capable of sending audio - that implementation is not typically offered in TVs.

The soundbar has Toslink (digital optical), a 3.5mm jack and HDMI ARC.

So, the only option you have (beyond what you're currently using) is an analog Aux signal. 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cord from the headphone jack to the "analog" port on the soundbar.

That would certainly be more convenient, so you're not having to switch inputs between Coax & Bluetooth.... but it's not going to net you any better audio results.

Thanks. So, does this mean that I cannot have a better sound experience with this pair (TV and soundbar)? Also, the bluetooth connect with the firestick - does that result in the best sound that the YAS 107 has to offer?

Arguably, the straight analog connection could be "better" than what you're currently using..... but to the vast majority of users, I wouldn't expect them to notice.

BT compresses the audio, so there's definitely potential for a noticeable drop in quality (to a trained ear).

Where is your Coax connection going currently? I thought that was direct to the soundbar, but looking at the spec again, I don't see that it can.

Both the cable & firestick connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV to Soundbar via Aux would probably be the "best" option actually.

Thanks again. Final question - would the analog connect you suggest, allow 5.1 channel /surround experience?

Is this workable and do you suggest?
You connect the sat box and firestick to the HDMI input of it and the HDMI output to the TV. You can connect the optical out of the input selector to the soundbar.
