Dlp bulbs how do you know when not working tv keeps shutting down

samsung tv dlp kept shutting down now wont turn on, lamp light blinks is it the lamp thats no good.

I have the same problem from time to time on my Toshiba DLP - and yes - it was always the DLP lamp that had blown
