Do I need a Microphone Amp?

So i just got a cheap lavalier mic for gaming, but the sound from the mic is very low. I tried boosting it in Windows but all i got is a bunch of noise. Is there a cheap sort of mic amp that i can use to boost the loudness of my mic?

FYI i just ordered an smsl m3 amp/dac for my headphones, but im unsure if i can somehow make use of it for my mic

Yeah tried all that. Boosted too far and all you can hear is just noise. And the playback is still too low. I really don't want to shell out for another mic as i think the one that i currently have is fine, just lacking in the pre-amp department, maybe?

I guess i'd rather just buy another something to boost it rather than go out and buy a quality mic, since Ill only be using it for dota and not much else.

The DAC/amp won't do anything for the mic.
Probably cheaper to replace the mic than get a good high gain mic preamp assuming that there isn't a problem with the mic pre in the PC.
