I bought Audio Technica ATH-MSR7GM and I have a MSI z97 Gaming 3 motherboard. Do i need an amp or will my built in audio solution work?

Solution
most devices can handle headphones with 50ohm impedance unless they are inefficient. of course its hard to say if all onboard can as there are some that do it fine while others that do not. if you have low volume output then you need an amp.

it seems to be suggested to use a tube amp with that model of headphone as it can sound a bit cold and analytical otherwise. check out the head fi review.
