Do i need blue ray 3d player??

i have purchased a Lg 3d tv .and now if i want to watch 3d movies .do i need to purchase a special 3d blue ray player to play 3d movies .as i want to play it via my portable hd .my hdtv supports portable hard drive.please suggest ....

The only way to be sure is to try it but I don't think the 3d info for the glasses will come through from the hd with the USB connection. You could try connecting the drive to the Bluray player and connect it to the TV with HDMI. That might work.
