Free Comodo Antivirus from the same folks that makes the firewall.
It works great & not too pushy once trained.
I also use Windows MRT.exe as a secondary av scanner.
I also use the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, ABE ad blocker, Disconnect, Flash Blocker, cCleaner & lots of common sense 8)
TIP: Don't click links mindlessly - see if the domain looks fishy!.
If you like chrome - use Comodo Dragon instead; it's lot more secure & private than the standard google spyware version.
Comodo also has a FireFox based Comodo IceDragon too.
I've used Dragon a few times, and I wasn't impressed. Iron is a much better build, in my opinion, and Aviator is definitely one of the best (if not the best) available.
Comodo's AV also yields far too many false positives for me. I ran it for a while, but I never really trusted anything it flagged as malicious; there's was only once when it didn't give me a false positive, and that was because of me being lazy, and barebacking an infected computer to help fix it lol. The firewall is great, but their AV sucks, compared to most others. I'd rather use Avast over Comodo... and I don't like Avast...

Honetly I really prefer to have paid anti virus. Even though there are lots of great free anti virus, with paid anti virus you can get more features, such as identity theft protection, firewalls, parental controls, and system performance tools .Free antivirus software usually provides a bare minimum level of protection. It will scan for malware, and often can perform automatic scans, too.
Most of that extra stuff is just fluff, and the only people who "need" it are the ones who use their AV software as a last line of defence (which is a bad idea). It's a bitter sweet thing, but it's really just a selling point for those who are heavily inexperienced, and it is typically a paranoid feature for those who are either extremely lazy with security, or for the people who really have no idea what they are doing. Until I can see a real demonstration on just how effective these "features" are, I will continue to call it fluff, and nothing more.

I agree Norton and Ghostery is a great combo.
You always recommend Norton, and I keep asking you to explain why... I just haven't found anything that makes me think they are a company you should trust. Are you going to answer me this time?
