OK, it's on my list (thanks.)

But I like $12.79 <http://www.alldirect.com/music/mItem.asp?mitemNo=731451956423>

I have faith that technology is close enough to putting a stop to piracy
not to sweat this too much. Isn't this the "model" Hev wants to see
in place? <g>

I want people to enjoy a wide range of music from a centralized place where
advertisers interact with users and music is enjoyed for free.

Google-up Bob O's comments about that, because stating it that way reads
like good press, but overlooks what was really happening and what were
the implications of the court's decision.

Sorry, I guess it was just as easy to twist your words that way, as
it was for you to insinuate that mine were bigoted accusations ;-)

At least I posed mine as a question...

I'll look for that. But even if they felt that they had good reason, they
did things they knew were illegal. Paying your retailers to keep prices at a
certain level is apparently illegal, and I know that calling up your
competition (all of it) and deciding what that price is going to be is
illegal too. Like I said, risky.

I do not. However, your conjecture that nobody taking a countering view
has kids or speaks with kids has been countered. Beyond my own kids I
interact with quite a few others via teaching music and other aspects of
community, including the home schooling community which extends beyond
my local scene.

How could my life possibly be perfect when I can't even get broadband?

That *is* a problem, especially for a guy that like usenet as much as
you do...

Seriously though, it's pretty hard to get some kids to understand why
they should pay for something that they view as if it was fruit
hanging on a tree. I've tried to explain it to my stepdaughter, but
she doesn't get it so far.... but kids do grow up.

Is this another weird uptempo version, after Louis Armstrong?

I played the original version in my office last summer and the guy across
the hall came in and boggled. He'd never heard anything but the wacky
Armstrong version and thought the original was some kind of satire. Which
it is, when you come and think about it...

Well, you're supposed to pay for that too, or not take it, if it's not
your tree.

Ever tried enforcing that, if the tree hangs out into the street?
