Does anybody know if it is possible to capture the dts audio from a ld
on a p.c. when converting to dvd?
What kind of ld player/soundcard/software would be needed?
At this point I'm starting to think it's not possible, but I'd love to
have somebody prove me wrong.

First you have to capture the DTS audio signal coming from your LD
player digitaly and bit true with the soundcard of your computer. The
signal should appear as 16 bit, 2 channel, 44.1 KHz. The DTS stream is
encapsulated inside that stream. The main problem is that for DVD only
48 KHz audio streams are acceptable. So you would have to decode the
44.1 KHz encapsulated DTS stream, then convert those 6 mono
streams/files to 48 KHz and then create a new DTS stream.

There are various forums around on the web where decoding and encoding
of DTS streams is discussed. http://forum.doom9.org/ is a good starting
point.
