Dual booting win xp/win 7 with win 7 first problem

ok guys i need help.
i have a dell inspiron n5010 with win 7 home premium installed.
i want to dual boot with win xp but when i insert the disc it gives me a bsod.
i know its some thing i have to change from my bios for my hard disk.but when i change the mod win7 doesnt boot 🙁
please someone help..

when i insert the win xp disc it loads up and goes into windows setup but after awhile when it says on the bottom starting windows it gives me a bsod.

What version of XP are you using? Service pack 3?
If not SP3 you'll want to slip stream SP3 into your install disk.

yes i am using sp3.but its a modified version from the internet.
