DVD ripper???

DivX is a video codec. It shrinks very large videos to relatively small videos.

this is where thius thread is illegal and the thread should NOT be used for illegal activities
best go talk to RIAA and ask them if you can be granted a Licence to ripp from a dvd

WTF is wrong with ripping a dvd to your PC? I thought that was part of an HTPCs job.. to house your media.

Sorry to revive the thread, but I am in search of some good DVD ripping software (preferably opensource, or free). Any suggestions? I found some stuff on cnet, but not much...

u mean copying the encrypted dvd content to ur HD or ripping the dvd into divx or xvid

I guess just ripping it to my hard drive... I'm wanting to be able to watch DVDs from my PC without having to hunt down the actual disc.

I am not near as familier with video as I am with audio, but I am thinking DiVx would be the format I would choose because I was under the impression it takes up less space.
