DVL-919E power problem

My Pioneer DVL-919E appears to have suddently given up the ghost. I
powered it down a week ago and it now refuses to power up. The unit
appears totally dead; the are absolutely no sounds when connecting a
power cable or pressing the power button.

I have checked a couple of things, namely trying a different power
cable and checking the (3.15A) fuse just inside case, but neither has
resolved the issue. I'd welcome any recommendations on what else I
should look at.

If the fuse in the power supply is blown then you need to cut out the
ARC/Surge Suppressor which is a cheap one and can short out in error. In
the DVL-909 it is D105 in the power supply board. The DVL-919 probably has
the same Power Supply but I don't have the service manual to compare.

This is a common failure in the DVL and some LD players.

Beware that the DVL-919E is the European version which has a 100V-260V input
voltage power supply. This differs from the US version which is 120V. Power
supply of the DVL-919E is the same as the European DVL-909 models. If you
need a schematic diagram, I can provide one for you.
The DVL-919E has the same appearance as the champagne colored DVL-909 did,
whereas the American DVL-919 had a different front panel and is black.

The "E" version usually have a little different layout on the primary side
of the supply where this part verses the North American version I mentioned.
For that reason I cannot tell you what the suppression diode is labeled as
in your unit. A schematic from Nico would be the best option to verify
where this part is in the European version.

The DVL-919E will run on 120V 60 Hz, as it accepts any input voltage between
100 and 260 Volts. My point was to avoid confusion between the US DVL-919
power supply and the DVL-919E one, as they fundamentally diffrent on the
primary side.

Thanks for helping with the 919E version power supply. Since I do not have
a manual I was not aware it did not have the Arc Suppressor. This is why
the newsgroup is good, we can all help each other.
