[citation][nom]Verrin[/nom]I dunno, if you guys are killing each other over something as mundane as sex, I can't say your morals are all that great. Sex is supposed to be love, not murder, as you somehow how twisted it into. And morals 2000 years ago are not the morals of today. We talk things out now, we don't stone people. If you have to settle something through violence, you have some poor morals.[/citation]
if wour wife has sex with a stranger would you be happy

[citation][nom]Vladislaus[/nom]I don't see what's the problem with banning porn in their country! It is after all their country. They have a very different culture than most western countries and we don't have the right to judge it.To people here talking that not everyone wants this ban, let's face it, how many laws and regulations did your government approved that the population didn't agreed with it?[/citation]
exactly, Egyptians don't want it

at least some people understand

the irony is ancient Egypt was very open to pornography and embellished it, had incestuous high class orgies, literally anything goes according to the history books..

i guess different culture back then.. however i must agree somewhat.. i think pornography is too easy to access and should be restricted on an international level, to protect children and culturally sensitive societies, on the other hand i personally keep the kitchen roll business empire and would hate it banned altogether in the free world at least lol

In my opinion a country like Egypt that has just risen up against an authoritarian government shouldn't begin imposing new laws that restrict what people can and cannot see. Of course that's my opnion, I don't know the culture in Egypt but I doubt that everyone in that country is psyched that the government is about to restrict access to media it disagrees with.

[citation][nom]madooo12[/nom]and I'll also play video games for fun, not do something immoral, learn to respect our religion[/citation]

I wasn't going to get into this debate but I have to with this one.

Madooo ... I realize that you are basing most of this at/on USofA/Europe and Christianity so I'll aim the response via that limited group. Their "holy book" has a passage - Matthew 7:12 to be exact. Basically if you want others to treat you and your views with respect you have to do the same to them. Not sure if the Quran has anything like that or not .. maybe you can find out for me.

The Quran, Torah/Talmud, Christian Bible, Dhammapada etc. are not created by some all powerful god (sorry to break the news to you). They are created, printed and read by humans. They didn't exist since the beginning of time. They can be created, changed, manipulated, interpreted and destroyed by humans. If there is some all powerful being and these were his/her/its will .. there would be no way to change, destroy, etc. the books that all agreed with one another and have existed since the beginning of human existence. They are just stories, fiction or non-fiction it's your call, that act as guidelines on how society should be run when they were originally created. Many things are the same in all religions and some stuff is different, depending on how old the book is and what society was going through when it was created. Blind faith in anything, religion or science, is bad. We are all given free will and the ability to think and question for a reason .. be it "god's" will or lucky evolution.

Lastly porn doesn't cause rape, unwed mothers, sex with animals, economic loss or anything else. It's just an image / audio & video ... just like any movie or work of art. It's people's actions that are the true issue. If people are so ... lets be nice and say soft-willed ... that after seeing a naked person they will rape children, cheat on their spouse or not go into work to see more naked people .. it's the person who has / is the problem. They need to be better educated / mentally developed / responsible to their life/family/work/society. Please don't B.S. and say your book will fix that .. it's a personal responsibility issue not a religious one.

That said I'm sure every country/society in the world could use a little (or lot) more people taking more responsibility for their actions. The idea that some image/video will cause the fall of society is only valid if the society if so crappy and full of irresponsible people that it would fall because of almost any reason and this is just the scapegoat / the one that puts it over the edge. If that is the case .. maybe that society should fall. There has been many societies in the past and new ones will eventually grow. Just saying .. even the Qur'an was based on earlier societies.

We're sexual creatures. The only way to fix that would be to make everyone a eunuch, whether chemically or via castration. I'll pass.
Pornography is simply a tool for many. Removing pornography will not fix the problem.

I don’t know why this discussion must turn out as a religious feud. True that many atrocities have been committed in the name of Islamism, but let’s face this has happened to most if not all religions. This is especially true in Christianity, which of all religions is perhaps the one with the bloodiest history.

Before I visited a country which Islamism was the dominant religion, like most people, I though that they were religiously blind, violent and terrorist like because it’s the propaganda most newspapers and TV channels spread. When I first visited one it was a shock to say the least. I’m an atheist and many Christians have trouble accepting someone that doesn’t believe in god. Yet I didn’t have any kind of problem there and was astounded how friendly and welcoming they were. Of course they are a people with a very different society. For example lying is very frequent in western society, yet they take great offence to lying.

The country I visited was Egypt, I loved the monuments but the true highlight was the people. In my stay I was even invited to the home of a Egyptian I meet there to dinner. Since then I visited other Islamic countries and in every single one of them I had a similar experience. Perhaps the reason I had a good time was because I went there with a open mind and I always respected theirs customs and traditions and always tried to obey their laws. Most people I saw visiting their country go there with the idea their rules don’t apply to them and behave like they were on their home country. And of course in some countries this can be problematic to say the least.

[citation][nom]madooo12[/nom]WOW don't you ever visit alexa, enter the saudi arabian ranks and see the first site of that type, then enter the US, Iraq, the UK....when will you ever learn to respect our morals and values, just because it doesn't oppose yours doesn't mean it doesn't oppose ours, and the people want that, what more do you wantand fuck anon if they try to do anything to prevent this, we still won't stop, we don't want to live like you, we have our own lives, you don't control the world[/citation]

You missed the point!
This is not about 'porn' being good or bad.

The question is not WHAT the government wants to filter, but the fact THAT the government wants to filter.
Today porn, and tomorrow ... ?
Maybe you get a 'radical' government next and all 'soft' Muslims will be considered 'bad';
or the other way around !

Take Ireland... Christians (catholic) fighting Christians (protestants).
Remember, which side is the 'good' side depends on who wins !

If you value your FREEDOM, you have to watch out what those in power try to limit it.
And that is true for EVERY country; yes, including the USA, etc.

Bad, bad, bad, this is very bad. Today it's porn and forcing your morals on people who by your own holly book have right to choose for them self, tomorrow it's blocking CNN, BBC, DW, RFI etc, and forcing your own political opinion on people who by your law have right to disagree with you. If you have problems with porn don't watch it, raise your kids properly and don't expect from government to do it instead. But don't cry out against nanny state and liberals for allegedly trying to force their morals and values on you, while at the same time you demand laws that define socially acceptable behavior and are forcing certain moral values on people. If you want to respect your holly book, respect when it says that every person has right to choose whether to be sinner or saint.

It's not ironic that this post applies to Egypt as much as to the US, religious fanatics no mather whether they pray with Injil, Bible, Quran, Kur'an, Tora or something else will always try to force their own morals on people, and will neglect to protect one of the first gifts given to humanity by God, Allah, or YHWH, freedom and choice.
