Hello. I have an Epson 2030 projector, and just got a Sony str dn860 receiver. Whenever I go to use any of the WiFi features, the screen looks like 8bit graphics, through a tablecloth. I only stumbled upon this after hours of farting around with audio receiver, and changed a setting on my projector from fast to fine. When the projector is on fast imaging, the images from the receiver don't come through at all. Just a black screen. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing, or a cable issue? I don't know why I can't just switch over to the WiFi function of the receiver (mirroring, or apps) , and just go from there. Can't even use connection status screen with any sort of clarity. Its almost like the projector won't process the image correctly, or the receiver needs to boost it's graphic output. Lol
Thx in advance.

Since you don't mention it I assume that your video sources other than internal to the receiver are fine. You are connected via HDMI? Can you get the receiver set up menu up in the screen? If you can try disabling any video processing. If not then connect the receiver to an alternate display and do it then.
If this doesn't help I would suggest contacting Epson tech support. The are generally quite helpful

I have tried other inputs, and everything works fine. The receiver menu, and options, and all graphics related work fine. Only seems to be an issue when the image is being provided from a wireless source. I haven't tried another viewing source because the only other TV in my house is a big prick, mounted on a wall. But that seems the next logical step. I think I'll try Epson. Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it.

did you ever find a solution for this. I just purchased the Sony strdn1060 which is just like the 860 and I am seeing the same issue as you. If I set it to fast, certain screens just don't appear! On fine, they look crazy! Please advise.

I did find a solution. The Epson projector don't do deep colour output, apparently. So, in the receiver go to setup>screen settings> hdmi deep colour output.
Switch it to off. Then try it out. That was my fix anyways. Got to the solution after a few minutes with an Epson projector specialist. He was awesome. Can't say enough good about their service. Hope this helps. I feel your frustration.

That is extremely helpful and resolved my issue completely. How do you like your sony receiver with the current setup, any regrets? I just bought mine and havent had the time to play with it just yet.

Good. Glad it helped. I really like the receiver. Great imaging. For the price, its fantastic. I didn't really have to change too many settings. The Mic that comes with it for setup worked really well. I really the the screen imaging feature. I use that a lot.
I have no regrets. However, periodically the hdmi output craps out, and you have to do a factory reset on it. Seems to be a sickness with these things. Hopefully they can fix it with an update sometime. So don't forget the deep black setting. Lol.
