Hi, I have the “err_proxy_connection_failed” on windows 10. It started with Chrome so I did check the LAN-settings and the box is not marked. Firefox and Seamonkey is working but the rest I get a proxy error from. I have used Malwarebytes, Minitoolbox and CCleaner but there is no malware or any problems either. I just started my laptop that I haven’t used for more than a month and it is the same problem there. Even McAfee anti-virus works on the laptop. I wonder if it can be my fiber modem, D-Link GO-RT-N300 or the internet connection because it affects both computers in the same way. But then, why not Firefox?

Solution
Yes: Leave the registry alone.

Just remain aware of what you changed, so if anything else happens you can "undo" things.

And look into

"WIN" + "I" > Network & Internet > Proxy

More information about the related configuration settings and information therein.

Thanks. I have followed every advice I could find but nothing worked and yes, even msconfig. The only thing left is to go in and delete registry keys but I want to avoid that. I tested to unmark "automatically detect settings" and it did the trick. Suddenly everything worked again. Every advice I have seen says that it should be left marked so I hope I don't do anything wrong. The computer is also faster than before so I think it is something in Windows 10 that isn't ok.
