I'm with jsloan, communist sons of bitches... People wonder why the world is goin to hell? It's because the powers that are waste their time worrying about stupid shit like what mother f***** internet browsers are or are not packaged with Windows instead of more important matters.

It may very well be left up to computer manufacturers such as Dell, HP, Toshiba, or Sony.

Crap more add-on software for me to deal with.... I hate all this crap cause everyone that buys a computer cause they don't know how to build one will be calling me with MORE problems...... I hate OEM's...... I now have someone to blame, thanks EU.

yeap, while the bankers run off with our hard earned money... credit card interest up to 30% can you say usury, econimic, finanical slavery. plus they keep the profits we pay for the loses. doesn't the eu have something better to do, like bail out the failing eu states... the good thing with the collapse maybe their wont be an eu...

Perhaps they really don't have anything better to do. You never know.. Haha.

[citation][nom]virtualban[/nom]I hate what MS has become in recent years (read Vista), but I am with them now. I think MS should offer a bare priced bare Windows for Europe, with no minesweeper installed at all, not even notepad. And I'd love to see europeans scratching their heads trying to figure out how to download the competition's minesweeper with no minesweeper installed in the first place. Or they could go for the normal priced normal windows all the rest of the world uses.[/citation]
I agree. They should only offer ONE version of Windows in the EU. It will be the same price as Vista Ultimate, but it includes NO MS software. No notepad, Wordpad, Media Player, Media Center, Movie Maker, or Outlook Express.. I would prefer Microsoft just stop selling and supporting Windows in the EU. It wouldnt take more than a few days for them to change their minds seeing as how every single business in the EU has a Windows Domain.

I think MS has a monopoly on MS PAINT by including it as the only painting program on their OS. I think they should be forced to include Corel Painter and Photoshop on all their OSes for competition.

Just because its bundled with the OS doesn't make it free. I'd wager that most people here would purchase a cheaper version of windows without IE, if offered, and use firefox or whatever instead. Thus saving a few dollars to pimp out their hardware some more.

That said, 95% of the population wouldn't have the skills to download firefox without using IE, so its a moot issue anyway.

The only reason I can think of why EU is doing this because they're comprised entirely of old farts who cannot even distinguish their heads from their behinds. Or may be they are too damn smart in trying to find every opportunity to extort Microsoft million or billion of dollars. They did it before and will continue to do so now and in the future. I agree with others about Microsoft selling only one vanilla version of Windows to the EU.

haha i agree... for free!!

I think my Copy of Vista64 Ultimate should come with a Virtual machine OSX for free.
I also think they should remove the Calculator... Texas Instruments should be suing MS, how is it fair?!

Meh IE is garbage but who cares?

I mean if MS made windows to not allow you to install other browsers then this would be a real problem, but its not. How retarded can you be? Do we really want our OS's to come bloated with 5 more browsers that we would only end up using one of?

This is rediculous tell EU to shove it
Its there product not EUs
EU is crying like a little baby I want I want I want

Breaking monopoly's are meant for those who buy out everything that is competitive. Microsoft built their own softwear fair and square mostly not their fault their competition in those area's can't get people to use their shit.

Like this shit even matters you know what will happen people wont know wtf the diff between browsers and media players so they'll just still use the windows one =p

Also the one without IE or WMP would cost more becuase you are forcing microsfot to do extra work lol stupid shit going on here in the eu I bet this shit wouldn't be happening if microsfot was stationed in one of the EU countrys.

Too bad it's a recession else microsoft could try a FU move and stop allowing the sales of windows in the eu countrys force peoplet o use mac or linux make them cry.

I know the EU should go in the footsteps of cuba make a EU linux =p

So they add a link to install a competitor's browser, big deal. I think that MS should charge more for this OS though, it would be just like any other company coming to MS to build them a special version of windows (Governments). So just charge more, simple solution and no one can be blamed but the decision of the EU.

How is this any different than MAC? Mac EU states that MAC OS can only be installed on MAC branded hardware or some nonsence like that. I use chrome and firefox, and I don't care much for IE. But its free to download the browser. The suits are very one sided here. The only reason they do not go after Apple is they have such a small presence in the world...Maybe 10% of computer users, use macs. And gee lets think, I can build a pc 101 different ways. If I dont like a company than I buy from a competitor. If you dont like mac hardware, well than your screwed.
The 2 things that should be focused on is
A: Let MAC os go on any hardware like Windows (Not a fan of mac but there should be more choices)
B: Laptops need to be able to built from the ground up like a pc. I know there are some places that you can, but I can take apart a laptop and put it back together. I want to choose a motherboard, I want to choose the cpu etc.

The reason why they go after stupid crap like this, is becuase its easy. They have a good chance of winning.

Take a challenge, go after apple, go after laptop makers.
Leave windows alone. If these companies are so concerned about people using there browsers, advertise, word of mouth, etc

ok so well all agree the microsoft windows is a monopoly and that the eu has the right and the moral obligation to force microsoft to include their competitor's os with their os and when the user boots the the system defaults to running some other os. personally i want the eu to force microsoft to bundle osx with their os.

The Eu are just a bunch of old farts with nothing better to do than cry. I mean, come on guys, did anybody ever felt like they we're forced into using IE, I mean even when installing another browser, it'll ask you if you want to import IE's bookmarks into your new browser. I say **ck the EU, let's sell 'em a watered down cheap *ss version of windows 98 with nothing bundled except for command line. See how they'll do with a black desktop and a cursor blinking into a small app (command line). Here you go **uc-tards how do you like your new un-monopolized version of Windows ?!

Next, take time and money to fix children's famine, then attack Apple for their locking you into an Apple Computer, now to me, that's a bad monopoly whatsoever.

Thx,
end of rant.

The thing that bugs me, is that if they are forced to bundle competitor's browsers, people will also expect them to offer tech support for them, and for them to be completely compatible with other Microsoft products (like windows update for instance), and that is unreasonable to expect.

LOL! I know why the EU is doing this. They are mad that their last efforts with Media Player failed flat on their faces. Microsoft decided to offer two versions of their OS to satisfy the EU. One with Media Player and one without for the same price. One sold less than 5 copies....guess which one.

I think MS should do the same thing. Have one version of Windows with no IE (heck no network connectivity at all) and one with IE for the same price.

Can the US sue the EU over this?
