I've just encoded my first movie last night and not very happy with the
result. Before I start tuning with the parameters in PocketDivXEncoder
maybe I can get some parameter values from experienced users, e.g. image
quality, brightness, sound etc.

thanks

I rarely need to change the defaults, other than to turn on b-frames and
2-pass encoding, and bump the video quality as high as space will allow
(usually max). Turn your backlight up to max when playing back, I find most
peoples standard backlight setting is way to low for video playback to look
good.

I think that WindowsMediaEncoder makes much better quality for same
price/size.
Though windowed part of WME is not best its console part is very very nice.
Moreover only with console part you can encode more than one file at once.
