[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]It is not possible for a PC to explode. He can be electrocuted quite easily especially but there is nothing in a PC that can cause an explosion.[/citation]
Google: exploding capacitors.

I think someone planted a bomb in his PC. If you really believe it just blew up you don't understand how computers work. But it depends on his setup... was he using something really stupid for liquid cooling like nitro glicerine? Because an average pc would not and could not blow up. Maybe the power supply could arch and start a fire but there wouldn't be an explosion.

Alright chemists, I've been working an idea in my head. Let's say there was no foul play involved, but this guy was a computer enthusiast that liquid cooled his machine.

At what point does mixing anti-freeze with over-chlorinated water in India turn an awesome Computer into an exploding death machine?

Might be a myth-busters episode in there...

[citation][nom]SneakySnake[/nom]it could've been a CRT screen blowing up, although thats more of an explosion of glass then a fire[/citation]

CRT's can not blow up, they can implode and send debris out from ricochet back inside the tube.

This guy's PC obviously had a bomb in it. The components that make up a PC can not explode that big. The computer's chassis would be able to withstand an exploding capacitor.

To the guy that said it couldn't be an explosion cause of the direction.. Will thats not true at all. I know I'm a 21b combat eng. It would actually be very easy to set up. Talking about crt monitors here. The point, and main point that you got right is he wouldn't have been left setting in his chair charred or sitting at all for that matter, and his pc/monitor wouldn't be left on the desk.

My guess is it was a crt monitor and somehow really surged. I've heared of tv's literally going boom, due to lighting.. *true or not don't know.. wonder if mythbusters have done anything on it, i'm sure they will now lol*..

The guy must have been masturbating to 2girls1cup, his gal walked in, and then decided for his ass to burn.

@sonofliberty08, I've been running F@H for 15 hours, and my Pentium D has only maxed out at 60C :)
Maybe I just need to up the voltage... a lot.

I think it was caused by his nvidia card with bad bumps after playing too much WOW!!

Mr. Parrish, thank you for such a well written article. Your sense of humor is simply outstanding, I oughtta say. So, while you are at it, why dont you try your luck as a stand up comedian? Maybe then I would not write sarcastic comments on your article and laugh at your jokes for real.

And, to all the forum users who actually think this is a joke, I cant believe we are trying humor on this topic.

I read Tom's articles daily, but as soon as I see an article written by Mr. Parrish, I shudder, but continue reading it anyways. Never have I written a comment like that for him, but this time he took it too far. I mean, look at all his articles, and you will find the same writing style. Choose a serious topic and season it with some nonsense humor, and behold, I am the best writer on Tom's. Dont get me wrong, I love all the other writers, like Jane and Marcus and Nguyen(spelling? am sorry if wrong), but I think editors and proof readers should pay more attention at the content(crap?) that Mr. Parrish feeds us with.

RIP Vijayakumar.

An explosion would have knocked him off his chair. I suspect it's another case of 'spontaneous human combustion'. The heat from his bodys burning would have torched the PC.

sounds like one of those "self destruct sequences" gone very wrong, who knows perhaps he kept a small(but apparently oversized) explosive inside the case in event of theft? 😛

He was using a crt I'm sure, I have seen crt tv's explode so crt monitor is along the same line.

If it was a laptop then the battery COULD explode... and could do a fair amount of damage, but enough to kill? dunno that.

If it was a desktop with a CRT then it would be implosion of the CRT - which might be possible if the unit was faulty. I know I wouldn't want to be sitting in front of a crt when it imploded - though I'd not heard of them starting a fire.
