External display connection USB-C or Micro-HDMI?

I just bought a new Dell Latitude 7370.

It only has a Micro HDMI port (+ 2xUSB-C and 1x USB-A), no no HDMI, etc.

I occasionally need to output to VGA or HDMI when connecting to projectors. Resolution up to 1920x1080 (or probably even less) should be fine.

Would it be better to go for a Micro HDMI -> VGA/HDMI adapter, or a USB-C -> VGA/HDMI adapter? and why? Would sound be supported with both?

I always carry a USB-C -> 3x USB-A hub, so don't really care if I lose one of the USB-C for the display, but ideally would rather use the micro HDMI if possible..

Many thanks in advance.

VGA would not allow for sound output. You'd have to have the HDMI connected to the same system & set the VGA as the active display... then in sound properties set HDMI for the audio.

Excuse my ignorance, just trying to make sure I understand your answer...

- VGA does not support audio, so if I need to use VGA then either USB-C or micro HDMI will be fine (with no audio output).
- HDMI does support audio, so I can use either (C or micro)
- If I want to reserve the USB-C for other peripherals, then using the micro HDMI is probably a better idea.

In summary: there really is no difference between using either USB-C or micro HDMI to output either VGA or HDMI (via a suitable adapter).

Am I correct?
