Hi everyone.

As much as I love my laptop, turns out that it has a flaw: audio only inset.

It looks like this:

I got stupid and bought an adapter before I checked it and surely enough it doesn't work. The adapter is a simple one, 2x3.5 to 3.5 made by Hama.

The question now is, can I somehow rework something on my laptop so that it'd recognize headset with mic.

Or, will an external mic work at all, if, for instance, I buy an adapter with USB end? In that case, please recommend one.

Thank you!

Hi
Most laptops like that have a combined jack plug .
That adaptor is a trs (3 pole or two ring) you will need a trrs ( 4 pole or 3 ring)
Something like this http://

an adapter with USB end

like 2x3.5 to USB, or from my Hama 3.5 one to USB

OR

any way to make it read the mic as mic, not as headphones

Most laptops yes, but looking at the specs for that laptop, which I did, right from Asus only call it a headphone output jack, so....

Actually I did look at the specs ; http://
And they state that it is a combo jack in/out .
