WHEN I BOOT MY pc ,the process is shown on the external monitor. Once it is loading the XP program, the external monitor goes black and only the laptops monitor is working. The external says that the cable is not connected, but it is ! I haved tried to find a solution in the control panel but wthout success. ANY SUGGESTIONS ?

You should be able to right-click on the background of your desktop and then click on "Graphics Properties". It should bring you to the "Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel".

In there you can make a multitude of changes.

The external display would be set to use the integrated graphics card/GPU, so if you have your laptop set to use something else, that could be your problem.
