External TV Tuner to use with XBMC

I am running XBMC on my Toshiba Laptop (Win 8.1) and looking at including Live TV, but need an external TV Tuner to accomplish this. I assume that the TV Tuner would need to be connected to my digital STB through HDMI to get the best picture.
Any ideas or recommendations?

In order to get all the same channels you get with your set top box, you probably want to look at cablecard ready devices like the SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime or the Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650. When paired with a cablecard (from your cable provider), these act just like a set top box.

I have 2 STBs - one is from a cable provider and I don't think that they have cablecards. The other is OTA Freeview.

Maybe it is not a Tuner that I need, just a Video In box that will take the signal from the STB ???
