Extra receivers from comcast are they free

I was told by a comcast customer service rep that if I wanted additional boxes for my homeI would need to go to a comast and pick them up. There would be no charge and no monthly fee. Is this true? I am not going to drive from Knoxville TN to Oak Ridge Tn (where he said to go) to pick them up if this is untue. True or untrue?

Never trust a customer service rep.
They might be free, call Oak Ridge office and ask them first.
