files not visible in file mamager

I copied a file from my friend's laptop to my sd card via a card reader. when i tried to open it on my laptop my antivirus blocked it .it say that it contain virus but i scanned it and it found no virus . my laptop is showing that about 2gb is free of 8gb but when i opened it it showed nothing.i put sd card in my mobile . videos and images are visible in gallery , songs are there in music player but when i opened my file manager it is showing that there is no file there. plz help ,how can i get it back

What kind of file is it? If it's something weird, it could be a hidden file that you have to turn see hidden files on for.
