Can anyone recommend a firewire to usb adapter compatible with windows 7?

What are you trying to convert from Firewire to USB? An external hard drive or some other drive? Are you trying to connect a camcorder to your laptop?

I'm trying to connect my Sony HDR-HC9 camcorder to my laptop and transfer video from the tape in the camcorder to my hard drive with Sony's software. My laptop does not have a firewire plug on it.

Everything I have read has said not to bother trying to use a "Firewire to USB" cable as they do not work.
