I need to buy a laptop for when I go to college next year and I'm looking for something fast and reliable. I don't know too much about computers and looking just for some advice from people who know a lot more about than me. To be more specific I'm looking for something $1500 or less but I can be flexible. I don't play any games that require a really nice graphics card mostly just league of legends. Im not as worried about storage because I already have a tb external Hardrive. Looking for something not too heavy and an average display like 16 inches would be perfect but 15 is fine. Thank you so much for the help it means a lot.

Maybe the 15.6" HP Omen 15 is a good option for you for $1,043.

Quad Core i7-4710HQ
GeForce GTX 860m
1080p screen
8GB RAM
256 SSD
4.7lbs

EDIT:

Actually since you stated you only play LoL you do not need to spend that much money on a laptop. The GTX 860m would be overkill for your needs. I'll search for something that costs less but should be fine for that game, but I need to step out now....

The more popular laptop screen sizes are 15.6 and 17.3 inch.

Are you wanting a thin profile laptop with less performance, or a thicker laptop with better performance?

Do you have any screen quality requirement, such as a type of resolution like 1920x1080 or a UltraHD 2k/4k screen?

I don't usually recommend name brand PCs because of bad driver support / bloat ware / over priced. BUT that looks like a really sweet laptop.

I have a problems with this... That Acer linked is EXTREMELY overpriced for the specs...

Seems like the HP Omen 15 went up in price to $1,087 overnight.

Anyway, an alternative would be the ASUS Laptop X555LB-NS51 which is currently on sale at newegg.com for $630.

Dual Core i5-5200u
nVidia GT 940m

The GT 940m (similar to the older GT 840m, but consumes a little less power) is a lot less powerful than the nVidia GTX 860m, but it is more than enough to play LoL. Especially since LoL can be played with integrated graphics pretty well. Below is a video of LoL being played on a Surface Pro 2 using the previous generation Intel Core i5-4200u with the Intel HD 4400 graphics core. The current generation Core i5-5200u has a slightly more powerful Intel HD 5500. Gameplay is recorded with an external video capture device, not recording software, so you are seeing the actual performance.

Graphic settings are shown at 0:44 into the video which is basically 1080p and everything set to very high. Playing the game with a GT 940m will give you even better performance.
