fx 6300 rift

I want to get an oculus rift. The tool says my pc wont work. I have been considering upgrading to an i7. right now i have a fx 6300 overclocked at 4.5gz with an r9 290x. will this be enough to runs games well. I cant buy the oculus and the upgrade at the same time. I'd rather not buy the oculus to test and then have it not work. What do you think? will it work with my set up? also i have 8gb ram.

I think you are answering your own question.
If you system is not meeting required specs, then you have to upgrade your system first. (or get motion sickness.)
