Gateway operating system how to record streaming audio

I have a Gateway NV53. Have never been able to record streaming audio internally, only through external microphone. How do I adjust the sound card settings to allow for internal recording?

I used it before and it works well. I am not using it now not because it didn't work but because I don't need any sound recording from my sound card.

It works some years ago on my XP machine. Give it a try.

Yes, and I'm finding that my laptop's "sound card" doesn't have the same capabilities as my desktop did.... so, I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to do what I want to do.
