Go for the Radeon HD 8750M because it gives the i7.

The i7 gives more performance in gaming.

The nVidia GT 840m is more powerful than the Radeon HD 8750m.

The Radeon HD 8790m would be a little more powerful than the GT 840m.

From what I have seen they appear to be in the same classification. Meaning, in some scenarios the Nvidia card will be faster, and others go to AMD. It really comes down to the display and cpu after that. Pick which is more important to you.
